David Crocker Joins IBL as Senior Advisor to Support League Growth and Sustainability

Jakarta, 19 June - The Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) has officially appointed David Crocker as Senior Advisor for Growth and Sustainability, reinforcing the league’s commitment to building a more professional and sustainable basketball ecosystem in Indonesia.

Crocker will work closely with IBL and its member clubs to enhance performance both on and off the court, with a focus on strengthening organizational management. He will focus on shaping a stronger competition framework, improving referee standards, and advancing IBL’s marketing strategy to broaden its audience reach.

“David Crocker’s involvement marks a major step forward for IBL,” said Junas Miradiarsyah, President Director of IBL. “With his experience at FIBA and his leadership across multiple league development projects in the Asia-Pacific region, we believe he will bring significant impact to the growth of Indonesian basketball.”

A prominent figure in international basketball, Crocker previously served as CEO of Basketball New Zealand from 2000 to 2006, where he successfully transformed the organization from a modest operation into a powerful and influential entity. Under his leadership, New Zealand established a consistent presence on the global basketball stage.

Crocker later spent more than a decade as Executive Director at FIBA, where he played a key role in expanding the organization’s presence in Oceania and Southeast Asia. One of his landmark achievements was his involvement in the successful delivery of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, a record-setting multi-host tournament celebrated for its fan engagement and economic impact.

His leadership in the event helped set new benchmarks for international basketball competitions, positioning him as one of the sport’s most influential global figures.

Crocker’s extensive experience and deep understanding of the global basketball landscape make him a vital asset to IBL’s ambitious vision. His proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and implement innovative strategies aligns closely with IBL’s mission to grow into a strong and influential professional sports brand in Asia.
